Intel is one of the Innovation partners of ICC. The phase of cricket is going to change with Intel. Intel is working on Bat sensors, Virtual Reality and Drones that help in improving the quality of perceiving sports. Intel is calling this change over Digitisation of sports. With the new implementations of Intel into sports the statistics related to the dynamics of game play are going to be enhanced.

Speculur BatSense - the bat sensor that Intel is working on! They can measure eight different parameters related to a batsman. Bat sensors help to gather the information of the angle at which the bat is being swung, the force applied to hit the ball, maximum bat speed and bat at the impact. Simply, this sensor measures every stroke of the bat. It is attached at the top of the bat's handle. It is not yet confirm if this sensor can record the play! Experts are stating that the complete perception of cricket can be changed with this new implementation. Also, the bat sensor helps the players to be precise in the play. There is also a news that Intel is working on similar sensors for other sports also.

The next big thing is user experience. VR is the trend to enhance user experience in the recent days. Intel VR is grabbing the advantage of it to provide as real experience to the player. This helps the player to review the play and analyse the pros and cons.

Intel Virtual Reality |
Drones are into every possible field these days - movies, e-commerce, spy cameras and the list goes on. This list is now added with sports. Till now, drones were used just to record the play from different camera angles. But this time, it has changed; Intel is implementing drones for analysing and reporting the pitch condition to its perfect. Not just the mat, but entire ground will be analysed by this drones. The report from these drones include the parameters like dryness of the pitch, if the pitch is smooth for batting or bowling and if the pitch is spin support or fast bowling support. Such details help in review or analysing the play with respect to the mat/pitch.

The innovations we’re working with Intel on for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 are like nothing we’ve seen in the sport before. - ICC Chief Executive David Richardson.
We are deploying a range of technology at the event as part of our ongoing effort to bring a new level of data analytics to sports and to revolutionise how athletes train, coaches teach, scouts evaluate talent and fans enjoy sports - James Carwana, general manager of the Intel Sports Group.
Initially we needed to understand how a bat moves in 3D space. We studied swings using vision cameras, radar and other types of motion capture systems. - Sundararajan.
