Evolution of mobile phones cannot be imagined without Qualcomm's Snapdragon series of processors. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 powered many flagship mobiles till date. The performance of the mobiles powered by this chip ruled out the mobile market. Now, Qualcomm seems to be targeting the mid-range mobiles.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is the next mobile processor launched expected to be unveiled next week. Qualcomm claims that this processor will power most of the mid-range mobiles from the manufacturers like Asus, Lenovo, Samsung, Xiaomi and Micromax.
Along with this, Qualcomm is also going to release two more mobile processors. However, there are no details regarding these chipsets. These chipsets are expected to be Snapdragon 630 and 635.
The major features of Snapdragon 660 chipset are reduced heat, optimized power consumption and improved performance.The chipset comes with a quad-core processor, each core being Cortex A73, with a clock frequency of 2.3GHz. On the technical note, the SoC is manufactured with 14nm FinFET technology. Coming to the graphic performance, the SoC comes with Adrino 512 GPU.
Another attractive feature of the Snapdragon 660 SoC is that it supports dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM with a clock frequency of 1866MHz. Qualcomm has also taken care in terms of charging; Snapdragon 660 comes with Quick Charge 4.0 support.
Being unclear with the known details, one needs to wait for this mid-range advanced processor to power the mobile phones, as the successor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC.
