Android O - The most reverberating name of the next Android major update is Oreo. Though Google has not announced what O stands for, it has left a clue that this major update will be hitting the market in first two weeks of August. As we all know, it will be first available with Google's Nexus and Pixel devices; to be specific, Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be the devices getting the update. Following this update, the supported Nexus devices will also be getting the OTA updates of Android O.

As of now most of the Android devices are powered by Android M. The extent of Android N is very less and Google will be releasing the next major update Android O. The mobile manufacturers need to update themselves to provide the latest OS to their users. Recently, some of the Lenovo devices got he Android N update.
On 21st March, Google has released the Developer Preview 1 (alpha) followed by DP2 (beta) on 17th May. Then, the DP3 - final APKs and official SDK were released on 8th June. The next DP (DP4) is expected to be released in mid-July, followed by the final Android 8.0 update in August. This major update will be available to the OEMs based upon the manufacturer.
Update for Samsung devices:
Based on the previous update releases, Samsung has been late in rolling out the update. This time seems not an exception. But, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to get the update at the earliest after the official launch of Android O. It is notable that most of the Samsung devices are working with Android M; only certain devices are available with Android N. The best case scenario is that the update for Samsung devices may be available in Jan/Feb 2018.
Update for LG devices:
The LG V20 was launched with Android N, out of box. The next device in the series V30 is not sure if it will be available with Android O. The launch date of LG V30 is 31st August and this is the reason for the uncertainty. Based on the previous releases, the best case scenario for LG devices to get the Android O update is somewhere in October and November 2017.
Update for Sony devices:
Sony has recently announced that it is dropping out of the Android program. However, the Android-powered devices released till now and the devices that support Android O will be getting the updates. The next Sony flagship mobile Sony Xperia XZ Premium will be getting the first OTA update of Android O, followed by the following release devices. The best case is in November or December, 2017.
Update for Lenovo and Motorola:
Recently, Lenovo K6 Power and other Lenovo-branded devices got the Android N updates. On the other hand, Moto Z and Moto Z Force were the Motorola-branded devices that got the first ever Nougat updates. Hence, Android O update is expected to arrive in October or November 2017.
Other OEMs are get the updates based on their life cycle of Android images for their devices.
