Microsoft's Fluent Design - An eloquent design for complex world

Google owns Material design and so does Microsoft owned Fluent Design. Microsoft has unveiled its design system Fluent design in Developer Conference, Seattle. The objective of this design system is to provide a unique and universal system for designing better user interfaces across devices.

In perspective of developers, it provides a single design language to work across devices. The principle of Fluent design is to create a design language with the features lightweight, containing layers, depths and animations, as well as materials.

Five elements of Fluent design:
Microsoft has devised the Fluent design system with five elements. The five elements of the fluent design are light, depth, motion, material and scale.
Light:
Light is one of the major aspects of a user interface that provides a delight experience to the users. Without proper light dynamics, the screen seems either over saturated or under saturated.
Depth:
Fluent design provides different several layers to create better UI, that helps to integrate the depth dimension to the interface.
Motion:
Transitions upon an event improve the feel of the user with the interface. With Fluent design, the motion parameter will be improved for a better user experience.
Material:
The material of design for DOS seems very monochrome. But, it was improved with later versions. With Windows 7 Microsoft has introduced glass-like material design and enhanced it with Windows 10. The design of the material seems more realistic with the Fluent design.
Scale:
Scaling of objects is what decides the user experience over wide range of devices, for which different devices come with different screen resolutions.

With all these elements and advanced features, Microsoft is making king part to the user experience with the new Fluent design user interface system.
There’s a multi-sensory movement in design. We type, touch, ink, and speak. We’re surrounded by devices. This is an opportunity to look at a complex world, and make it more eloquent. - Tim Allen, Partner Director of Design.
We want people to work, play, communicate, learn, and explore in an effortless way. And that starts with articulate design. - Karen Scott, Senior Designer.
